The Candyland Invaders

this is the pixelated game world of space invaders in a soothing pixel art,
as these devil aliens invade a kid's Candy valley.

Here is how i am programming it Using the  HTML's canvas to draw my game and scripting it with JavaScript.

lets begin.
We see Space Invaders here, that means there is a turret shooting bullets at aliens.
hence the Objects needed :
Enemy       / Alien
Player        / Turret
Bullet

Making Characters :

we wont use images and learn some programming with these industry leaders we are trying to mimic.
So thinking the retro style i believe we need to see how we can draw boxes in a pattern.
That means places to store values .. an array of objects in a variable.

imagine how our t.v works.. there are pixels putting different colors together.
lets try something similar here.

the canvas would be full of small pixels/boxes which when combined, will give you the screen
Is not this the whole concept ?

[WIP]

But imagine the workload now.. look as of how would you have to swap the pixel colors in the grid either in X or in Y.
so lets just make patches of grids whose X and Y positions and directions, we can determine by using the classes. A class of enemies which would be nothing but a group of grid array patches that would change location with a collective X and Y.(global location).

now this image is intentionally left this small. Give a look at the coded left hand of this image. These figures are for the artist to create characters. now it can be multicolored too if the array is denoted by different values for different positions they are being drawn in.

BUSHMASTER the retro snake

have'nt i been talking lot about my future first game ?

well, its about time.
So to make up the mood, lets talk about the legendary games that shaped my childhood.

It was the age of 8 bit and NES was "the shit".
super Mario.. Contra.. Duck hunt were the main streams and right along the way came the very landmark in mobile gaming

bushmaster

Yes..
this game
I would spend hours trying to beat my cousin's high score and so u know..
I did beat him and since I never wanted to loose again in the same very game, I ignored his high scores later on .. :-p
geting back to where we were..
the nokia1100 made famous snake game is my first game project.

Web Notepad development [WIP]

Now.. like every form of study, programming has milestones too.
from writing a program to save contacts just by forming arrays, till... forming a third person RPG. And here i am taking little baby steps towards the first one.

With this said..
lets look into the world of site development as i plan my first..
last topic about 4gamesake.com would take till i develop my games, so in this site project i will try to figure as of how can i implement my thoughts and ideas on a website. That would help me refine my views and possibilities while thinking of another such idea.

I as a rookie will look.. search.. and develop with your comments and suggestions. That been said, i am not a CSS student and would need it majorly. But even if i need someone's help in it, I should know how something is being built.
So this is like my freetime project.

Lets jump in

I hv just seen the basics of "functions( )" yet and i know that if there are triggers from the webpage in any form like mouse click, they can be used to run code on web . simple basic.
but this gave me an idea at the possibility of the ideas on websites are limitless.

There is a problem.
every time I have a project my browsers have 20 tabs open .. because i need information
this is the way i guess every lazy person interacts with the web.
but the problem starts when i try to document a note like this very post.
I personally believe that
its always better to know about what you are writing and hence create a richer text .

This strikes the idea of a web notepad.
sounds pretty boring right..?
well, wait till you experience it.

i wanted an environment that puts the user in
direct contact with the document he/ she is
creating
and this picture caught my eye
the lighting was soo soothing
that i just had to use it, got it
from free hd wallpapers search.

the body   {
                     background-picture:assigned
}
after you have got the idea of how this web notepad is going to be a project with beauty and creativity..
Lets look at the content of the website and the planning problems we would be facing.

the content

The site has to be divided into three major features :

* documenting new article

* reading loved parts from different websites.

* checking the document simultaneously about regarding topics

So i made this artwork according to how i visualize the website. But the work can never stop here as i am very curious how the site developer would make this project of mine work.

Apart from these basic points, the site must have different tabs namely,

My page.
my page is the first picture in this post. this tab has a writing area on the left, searching area
on right top and previous notes area on bottom right. it is the writer's private space.

Stories.
stories tab contains the notes publicly shared by people around the world. since the notes can be your written document on any topic or can even be copied parts of different web-pages, the topics found in this tab would be limitless.

Keeps.
I am still thinking what should the keep section contain.. I basically want it to be an area where the user keeps his created or collected notes under project names.

solving problems

Lets start with Stories.
We will start with the easiest part of the website.
CSS (cascade styling sheet) is a part of the site development that ,as the name suggests..
adds styling to the page by positioning and giving different contents animation along with colours and sizes.

But as i said i have no experience with CSS so this leads us to gaining the required info.

The list should start with a brilliant channel i found on youtube

Adam Khoury's channel has resources for majorly most of the effects i have in mind. I recommend you checking out his channel for even additional effects that you desire in your website.

4GameSake.com -the making of

greetings..

Let me begin by stating this as the start of a new journey for me.

...from just 3d world to a 3d world with their own brains.
Yes audience i have now taken another step forward into the awesome
world of make believe. But this time its more with maths... logics... and if conditions.

With a perspective of making my own games i am now learning JavaScript.
and the starting side project of this awesome experience is _"making my own website"_

The url i have bought is 4gamesake.com

And hence in this blog post i will be about brushing up my graphic design skills to build the website i have dreamed about.

the first thing was to design a subtle yet influencing logo for the site.

the logo

The site although for teenagers should also be recognized as a polished place away from advertisements and distractions of a billion colors ,which to me.. don't let the important material stand out from rest. Hence after a lot of artworks for logo, I finalized this one.

And seriously , as an artist I just love origami.
Its an art style which is simple n yet elegant, leaving the audience with an open space for some of their own imagination.

A logo..
well.. thats good,
but what about the part of the of site that puts you in the feel of it?
yes i mean something that tells you what the site is all about in the most influential manner possible.
I, as a user have struggled on some websites to capture maker's motive.
I sure didn't want my audience to not 'feel' what is the motive of this website. This thought gave birth to the second artwork for my website's home page.

homepage with typography elements

Typography gave me the ability to remove distractions of a thousand words and be specific to the user as of what i want to publish on this site, with a much better visual appeal.

till i work on my first game, il figure out more about what i want in my website for social gaming..
I am open to suggestions
would love to hear your inputs people.

Thank you

Zombie thrasher

Well..
I wanted to make this post specifically for the texturing process i am going through for the Zombie thrashing truck i have been working on with other projects (which you can see briefly in the post THE MACHINE).

using the perks of amazing high poly sculpting in zbrush,
I started by importing the different low poly meshes from maya

2nd step was sculpting the scratches and major deformed parts like the metal in front

and then after giving the basic first layer of colour using polypaint started the process of taking and making different images for specific uses under spotlight

I wanted the truck to have the colour tone of the 11 striped ball to give it the appeal of a rough enthusiastic fun loving trucker in an apoclyptic world.

Similarly for the wheels i used a couple of scratched aluminium and rusted metal textures

For the rusted leaking parts on the door and other metal frames..
i used a similar texture and painted wherever i wanted the rust leaks to be

PROP ART

This post contains the low and high-poly game modeling meshes for the different articles for an alley scene

The first object is a simple telephone booth

Second being a 'DG set '

Third object is the outer unit of an air conditioner.

Details from the high poly object would be baked on the low poly
this is the high poly model for the air conditioner outer unit

Character development

This work under progress is my attempt at developing a character with a background story

The basic aim was to create a character that would suit a particular scenario.
In this very exercise the character has these traits:
1.   sent from an imaginary world
2.   one man army for the destruction of the world

Hence I concentrated on the character KALKI taken from Indian mythological books and gave it a different look altogether
The character Kalki made of 3 different souls namely Vishnu, Bhrahma, Mahesh
Although he is the last avatar of lord Vishnu.
So i decided to give him a 'snake shield'.

Hope you enjoy the character conceptualization

Just the way the truck conceptualization started with a much simple approach in the start and was later converted into a beast..
This character development also started with a basic influence of an ancient Japanese armor with a couple of add-ons on the shield to give it a more 'off the planet' influential and different look

But as i kept on proceeding forward, I kept on trying to make the character look more and more powerful

While previously the character was being made with a floating head..,
Using the concept of the skull been bound to the armor with these heavy chains improved the silhouette a bit.
Adding the tusks and making the cheekbones even fatter ,to me, gave the character a more aagressive and angry look . Thus fulfilling the 'DESTROYER' requirement for the character.
so..
With the face.. I settled somewhere around this

These in-software snapshots show my attempt at giving the character a suitable clothing which matches its over all appeal.

trying a hand on texturing a plane

i am now trying to make textures for game objects using all three maps by baking (transfering maps) on a plane

later this same technique will be used to texture our truck
